Saint Germain French Bakery: A Taste of France in Atlanta
After living in France for more than 10 years, French native Mathieu Jourdan-Gassin and Atlanta native Heather Jourdan-Gassin moved to the U.S. with their daughter, Chloe, and opened up the French bakery in 2016.
When asked the secret ingredient in these decadent treats, Heather explains that the beauty lies within the skills and expertise of their French pastry chefs.
“Less is more,” she remarks. “Our treats are sweet, light and not too powerful. I always say it’s like a sugar fairy flew by and dropped a little sugar off on our pastries.”
While it’s easy to become overwhelmed when visiting the bakery for the first time, there are signs intricately placed throughout the store to give guests an idea of what’s available, including a macaron menu board that lists all of their flavors, which can range from 18 - 20 different creations at any given time.
At their new location coming to West Midtown in spring 2021, Saint Germain French Bakery will have a similar lineup with a pastry display, macarons, coffee and sandwiches, among other items. Guests are also in for a treat, though. The new location will have a design unique to The Interlock that includes a bar and indoor and outdoor seating. The Interlock location will also offer an extensive parking deck that will allow ease of access for patrons picking up larger orders.
Over the next few months, several businesses will also start to schedule openings at The Interlock, including Puttshack, Georgia Technology Ventures and Chase Bank. Located at 1115 Howell Mill Road N.W. in Atlanta, The Interlock is ideally situated within a 5-minute walk to an abundance of restaurants, bars, retail shops, boutiques and cafes.
