Plans for a development featuring a Whole Foods store near Decatur feature roughly 285 apartments, with 10 percent of those at “work force” rates.

This was revealed during a Thursday update from Jeff Garrison, partner with developer S.J. Collins, and John Bell, partner with builders Terwilliger Pappas.

S.J. Collins Enterprises, the developer behind a mixed-use project at North Decatur Road and Church Street that will include a Whole Foods 365 store, has released new renderings for the project.

Whole Foods sold $3.7 billion worth of groceries in the last fiscal quarter, according to a report the organic grocery chain released yesterday. In a conference call with investors, co-CEO Walter Robb called the sales “a record,” marked in part by the launch of the chain’s new, lower-priced 365 stores.

The grains that go into the beers at Tradition Brewing Company may not only quench your thirst, but satisfy your hunger as well.

The brewing company, which opened in Newport News to the public last month, has partnered with Whole Foods to turn the spent grains, one of the byproducts from the brewing process after the Irish red ales and American pale ales and other beers are made, into bread.

There, Amanda Urick, Whole Foods' bakery team leader, takes those grains and bakes them into loaves that sell like hot cakes at the Newport News store.
