Whole Foods to open store in Newport News
NEWPORT NEWS – Whole Foods has plans for a Peninsula store.
13News has learned it will be located at Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue. It will be a 35,000 square foot store with a projected opening date of 2015.
In a post on its Facebook page, Whole Foods listed Newport news as one of 11 cities that will get a store.
“We are excited about Whole Foods opening a store in Newport News, and feel that this will be a great addition to the City’s retail mix,” city spokeswoman Kim Lee told WVEC.com.
There was lots of buzz about the news on the 13News Facebook page.
“Ah!!! YES!!!,” wrote Heather Bankston.
“Finally!,” added Nikki Massey Hall.
“Right across from Trader Joes. Parking sucks big time. Hopefully they will increase parking space at the new one,” noted Tim McDonnell.
The first Whole Foods in Hampton Roads opened in Va. Beach on Laskin Road in October, 2012.
