SARASOTA, FL – Whole Foods Market has opened the doors of its newest natural and organic community market in Sarasota. The 40,000-square-foot store, 5298 University Parkway, employs approximately 180 workers. The store is the second Whole Foods Market location serving the Sarasota area and the 28th in Florida.
"This store is a great opportunity for us to showcase what Whole Foods Market excels at," said
Store Team Leader Greg Linton. "We've created a space that is not only a beautiful place to
grocery shop, but also a welcoming place to gather and enjoy delicious food."
Along with the chef-run prepared foods department serving breakfast, lunch and dinner options, Whole Foods Market University Station boasts Brasserie Honoré, serving French classics like steak frites, charcuterie and made to order crepes, along with beer and sommelier selected wines. The store has a lounge and bar setting with weekly live music nights. Complimentary Wi-Fi also is available in the store.
Whole Foods Market University Station is marking the grand opening by donating 1 percent of the store's net sales back to community nonprofit organizations on each of the first five days it is open. Recipients of the five 1 percent days are:
