Japanese, wing restaurants set opening dates in Lexington
Two restaurants coming to the Lowes Foods-anchored Lexington Square shopping center at 5222 Sunset Blvd. are aiming to open in the spring, according to shopping center developer S.J. Collins Enterprises.
Japanese steakhouse Sukiya is planning to open in March while WingPlace is shooting for a mid-May opening.
Both companies got their start in Aiken, where each has developed a loyal following, according to restaurant staff. Sukiya is located at 226 East Gate Drive in Aiken. WingPlace is owned by Dick and Laurel Dickerson and opened 11 years ago at 732 E. Pine Log Road in Aiken. All recipes used in the restaurant were created by the Dickersons in their own kitchen, according to the restaurant’s website.
In addition to wings, WingPlace serves traditional bar fare such as fried pickles, buffalo chicken dip, quesadillas, barbecue sandwiches, patty melts and chicken fingers, as well as a variety of salads. The Aiken restaurant has 17 housemade wing sauces and features live music and flat screen televisions.
